Rick leads EEA's efforts in the U.S. and is responsible for a variety of debt and private equity investments in the clean energy and carbon sectors with a geographical focus on the U.S. and Latin America. Rick is an attorney by background with extensive direct investment experience in the energy and environmental fields. While at EEA, Rick was also a founder and part of the executive management of Leaf Clean Energy Company, a North American focused clean energy private equity vehicle.
Prior to joining EEA, Rick was a senior attorney with the Washington, DC based law firm of Van Ness Feldman where his practice focused climate change policy and transactions both under the Kyoto Protocol and in voluntary markets. Rick has also lived and worked in Brazil for three years while working with a leading local law firm where his practice focused on cross-border transactions, foreign investment and climate change matters. During that time he advised some of the first CDM projects and was a principal protagonist for an early effort to develop a Brazil specific carbon fund. Rick is fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish.
Rick has an undergraduate degree in Anthropology from Lafayette College and a J.D. from Seton Hall University.
