Michael van der Meer is based in EEA's Beijing office. His main responsibilities include the coordination and technical review of carbon reduction projects in China and Southeast Asia.
Prior to joining EEA, Michael worked on environment and trade issues at an international consultancy in Beijing. His role there was to manage projects throughout their life-cycle, from project design and financing to implementation. Key projects Michael helped manage include Opportunities and Challenges in EU-China Trade and Investment Relations, Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment between the EU and China and the EU-China CDM Facilitation Project. Before coming to China Michael had worked in Europe and the Middle East.
Michael, a Mandarin speaker, has an MSc with distinction and a first class honours BSc from the University of London in management and finance.
