Francisco Avendaño is EEA’s representative in Lima. His main responsibilities are the identification of opportunities, negotiation and execution of equity financing, debt structures as well as carbon credit purchase deals across Latin America.
Prior to joining EEA, Francisco was the head of the Latin America office for the First Climate Group in Santiago de Chile and was in charge of origination and development of carbon assets and market development for climate protection products in Latin America. As a past CDM negotiator for the G77 + China Group within the UNFCCC Process and through former posts at the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), Peru’s DNA and Shell International, Francisco has worked extensively on CDM/JI regulation, carbon finance and energy project development in the EU, USA and Latin America where he has a working network of carbon and renewable energy practitioners. Since the conception of Programmatic CDM, Francisco has been a frequent policy contributor having co-authored UNEP Risoe publications on reformed CDM, energy efficiency and programmatic CDM. Francisco pursued PhD studies in Materials Science with a focus on Technology Management. and earned a MSc degree from the University of Rochester, NY and a BSc in Physics from the Catholic University (PUCP).
