History of EEA

EEA Fund Management was founded in August 2003 by Simon Shaw to manage equity portfolios and energy and environmental assets. A brief history of EEA can be found below:

2003

August 2003 – Epic Equity Advisors (EEA) was founded in August 2003 by Simon Shaw to manage equity funds and environmental assets.

September 2003 – Climate Exchange PLC was quoted on the AIM market with a fund raising of £15m with EEA as the investment adviser. Climate Exchange was the first investment fund on the London Stock Exchange with the specific objective of greenhouse gas mitigation.

October 2003 – the UK Financials and UK Equity OEICs were launched.

2004

May 2004 – The EEA Select Opportunities Fund is created.

October 2004 – Climate Exchange PLC raises a further £15m to launch the Chicago Climate Futures Exchange in the U.S. and the European Climate Exchange in Europe.

2005

April 2005Trading Emissions PLC raises £135m on the Alternative Investment Market to invest in emissions reduction and give investors exposure to the developing carbon market.

November 2005 – the EEA group enters the life settlement arena with the launch of the EEA Life Settlements Fund.

December 2005 – EEA becomes an independent entity owned solely by its management by buying out its majority shareholder, Epic Specialist Investments Limited.

2006

January 2006 – Epic Equity Advisors changes its name to EEA Fund Management Limited.

May 2006 – EEA works with Trading Emissions PLC to raise additional funds via a placing of C-shares with new and existing investors.

September 2006 – Climate Exchange PLC and EEA mutually agree to terminate their contract as Climate Exchange PLC decides to focus on its environmental credit exchanges.

2007

June 2007 – raises $400m for Leaf Clean Energy PLC to invest in clean energy technologies predominantly in North America.

2008

August 2008 – EEA diversifies into a new market with the creation of the Futures Fund.

2009

July 2009 – EEA launches the EEA Europe Long Short Fund.

September 2009 – EEA becomes the sole investment adviser to Leaf Clean Energy.
